Hey guys I’m wondering what your thoughts are on the Yamaha Super Tenere? I love Big Bore Adventure bikes. My Dream bike is the KTM 1190 Adventure R but my dilemma is that I’m only 5'5" tall with a 26" inseam. The KTM’s 35+ inch seat height makes it a no go for me.

The Super Tenere on the other hand is 33.3" seat height (in it’s low setting) and you can get lower profile seats for them. This means it would not be totally unrealistic to get it at about a 32" height with the right seat and sliding the forks up in the triple clamps a bit.

Right now my local Dealer has $3500 bucks off on a left over 2013. Which would make this bike somewhat affordable.

I'd say go for it! Make sure to sit on the bike before you decide to take further steps though, and if you don't fit getting it lowered won't be that hard/expensive.

I just saw one the other day. Amazing how many manufactures are going the dual-sport adventure route these days.

Honda even has one called the Crosstourer (seriously) The fucking honda crosstourer. Not sold in the states, though.

Dual-sport adventure bikes are the shiznit! it's the only type of bike I would want to own.

Crotch Rocket? No thanks!

I've been riding for over 20 years, and was never into the crotch rocket either. I liked riding them, sure, but never really wanted to own one.

That left standards, trail bikes, and cruisers. Since then, I have just stuck with cruisers. I kinda like the naked street fighters, the muscle bikes, and sport-tourers, but never wanted one of them either.

Up until recently, I haven't paid much attention to the dual-sport. If I ever wanted to get a second bike, it would be one of them. Where to start? Of course the R1200gs Adventure would be what I would want, but since it would be a second bike, I would probably go for one of the larger displacement Japanese twins.

All you have to do is look through the Aerostitch catalog once, and all of a sudden, you want to ride to Alaska.

It's funny you say that. I had a customer just a few weeks ago looking for wheelbearings and seals for his bike.It was a R1200GS Adventure and he was preparing to do Edmonton to Alaska on the bike.

A japanese twin would be ultra reliable and worry free. That would be the way to go. Altho if I was taller I'd sacrifice a little reliability and get a KTM 1190 Adventure R.
